SCN Productions has a range of training programs available for in-depth training for recording and production skills. These typically will be constructed specifically to meet bespoke requirements, whether at basic, intermediate, or advance levels.
Recording
There are many facets to the recording process for both analogue and digital instruments, all of which are covered within our training and mentoring process. It is important to recognise that a certain technical ‘head knowledge’ is part of, but certainly not the whole story when undertaking any recording project. We aim to provide practical mentorship that will quickly develop your skills and efficiency within the recording process.
Good audio capture and signal processing is fundamental to achieving the best quality results and minimising significant rectification in post-production. In terms of audio this speaks directly to things such as gain input levels, equalisation, and compression for example. Getting these correctly dialled in at the point of capture can determine success of the downstream mixing and mastering processes.
With experience in both analogue recording and digital instrument recording, our training will provide a comprehensive overview – incorporating microphone selection and placement for a range of instruments, plus effective use of digital instrumentation for orchestral arrangement and recording.
Production
Music and audio ‘production’ begins even prior to a note being recorded, so that the ‘creative audio design process can shape the piece into your chosen direction and outcome. An Executive Producer has the task of overseeing and directing the overall sound in alignment with the vision for the work. Of course, there are many gradients to this process, with many creative ideas manifesting through the use of production tools. This consultancy service by SCN Productions delves into some widely used production techniques in the context of a holistic production landscape for your project.
Once music – analogue/digital, vocal tracks and all instrumentation has successfully been recorded, the ‘production’ of the piece can be created to achieve a certain sound through many audio production tools. Using a suite of mixing and mastering digital and analogue components, SCN Productions will train and nurture skills in this sphere, incorporating mixbus management, console operations, configuration, and use of DAW’s (Digital Audio Workstation), together with plug-in management.
A grounding in the basics of mixing and mastering is provided, which again is delivered according to your own specific requirements according to genre and experience.
Audio & Visual Live Streaming
Online broadcasting at consumer and prosumer level has hit all-time highs. Whether for marketing, music, religious or personal purposes, today’s media platforms continue to develop technology in this area.
The online streaming providers have created excellent and affordable mechanisms for a wide application across this user demographic. However there still remains an element of ‘black science’ as one size most certainly doesn’t fit all. We at SCN Productions can assist you in the understanding and configuration for such setups as multicam switching, use of OBS for YouTube broadcasting and downstream post-production editing.
This service is also available for live event management and set up, (subject to location) whereby our specialists can assist on-site to operate your live stream.
