Film Gallery / BRIAN HOUSTON INTERVIEW
“When you get the call”, you run! That’s how it was when I was contacted by my good friend Chris Tripp, that the Irish Folk Gospel singer/songwriter was in town. An interview had been lined up for this extremely talented musician and writer of many years, so we headed down to central Belfast intersecting the Shankill and Falls Road (for those that are familiar with the region, yo“u’ll appreciate its significance) to do an impromptu shooting of an hour long conversation with Brian.
From a technical perspective this engagement had its challenges; even within the temporary marquee, the acoustics of this church building gave large amounts of resonance – very appealing and suitable for acoustic instruments and choral arrangements, however not so for interview style recording!
The set-up time was aggressive but yet we achieved a good result with the lav’s and boom working well after some post processing voice isolation within Davinci.
Born in Belfast, Brian gives some very interesting outlooks on his formative years during ‘the troubles’, plus some insights into his musical experiences across the decades including his faith journey aswell.
